flawed infrastructure

billy beck ridicules the short-lived cargo-cult democracy established to secure the blessings of lunch hour in an nyu student space.

now i admit that these twerps' only accomplishment was to give some perfectly diversified half-baked unarmed campus security force a hard-on of self-importance for their valued community service.

however, i feel i cannot likewise brush aside the event without first noting the subtle tactics of these clever furniture artists. they've set goals without community support for them yet claim representation, they've organized their decision process into an institution of "consensus" or the "democratic process," and they've declared soverignity over occupied space. sound familiar?

this is a perfect laboratory experiment in the establishment of a democracy. now i think the so-called right wing in this country needs to see this, understand what is going on and how the excuse of "herding cats" is used to stymie opposition, and question where their loyalties really truly lie. when the big boys play the same game over in the middle east, they bring more than just water bottles and ipods.

you think standing in the line at the RMV is really any different from trying to free palestine by hanging out with camera-whiner, girl-on-a-phone and skateboard-safety-blanket?

a world, safe for democracy. safe for the mob. you think that's just an accident?

UPDATE: exhibit b.

a coward responds, becky akers.

[Al Sharpton] denounced the Post’s mea culpa with all the bluster and intimidation we’ve come to expect from such churls: "The New York Post statement will be discussed by all of the leadership of the various groups that have mobilized and we will respond to it at the rally at 5 p.m. [Friday] outside of the New York Post. … we will make a collective decision on how to proceed. … Let us remember that Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch [the Post’s publisher] got a waiver from the FCC so he could own two radio, two television stations and a newspaper in this town. We will ask the FCC to review that waiver."

watch out

this is a journal scribbling from 29 jan 2009.

coins and liberty, lew rockwell.
How many tv ads are there for Obama coins and postage stamps? Is this a straw in the F├╝hrerprinzip wind? Burt Blumert once said that America was free when our money featured symbols like Indians, Liberty, buffaloes, etc. It was a bad thing, beginning with the evil Lincoln penny, to put dead politicians on the money. "But when they use living politicians," said Burt, "watch out."
well, there's no george w. bush coin. there were never any living president coins before.

new savior, ancient rome, tim case.
What the Roman Empire needed was a means to unify the population and further destroy those fading pockets of individualism, bringing the whole empire into obedience as dutiful, subservient drones totally reliant on the state.

Out of the chaos of the Revolutionary period and into the emerging empire came the Roman legions deploying the emperor’s standards and coins bearing the emperor’s likeness, proclaiming the name, power and dignity of Rome’s master.

update: just found this
renamed schools, streets mark early tributes to obama, usa today.
Cities and school boards are naming streets and buildings after President Obama, breaking with the tradition of waiting until a president is out of office.
"The children take such pride over the name being changed and knowing they represent such a strong individual," she says.

No matter what: I'm an American, in my blood and bones. I always will be, even if it comes to pass that there is no America anymore.
billy beck.

god damned right. now there's something that can't happen here: two plus two will always be four.

at the age of twenty-six, [Hikoemon] was commanded to back up the truthfulness of his words with an oath to heaven. he responded, "a warriors words are stronger than iron. i have made my statement as a warrior. what more can heaven do?"

with that, his word was accepted without the oath.

keyes: civil war disguised as politics, WRSA.
When I ran for the U.S. Senate against Barack Obama I did my best to speak the truth. I knew when I accepted the invitation of the Illinois Republicans that I stood little or no chance of victory. With few exceptions, everyone I consulted advised against it. Most thought it political suicide. But the facts convinced me that Obama is a dangerous left-wing extremist. When confronted with the proven depravity of his moral views, my faith and conscience convicted me as well. After years of telling audiences that we had to stand for right and truth no matter what the cost, I felt that the Lord would hold me accountable if I refused to walk the talk. Sometimes we are not called to victory, but to witness for truth, as Jesus did, even unto death.

truth is god, gandhi.
And is this Power benevolent or malevolent? I see it as purely benevolent. For I can see, that in the midst of death life persists, in the midst of untruth truth persists, in the midst of darkness light persists. Hence I gather that God is Life, Truth, Light. He is Love. He is the Supreme Good.
I believe that we can all become messengers of God, if we cease to fear man and seek only God's Truth. I do believe I am seeking only God's Truth and have lost all fear of man.

i was listening to a few seconds of rush the other day, and he was beyond sickening. fortunately, an lrc blogger has got a transcript of rush's revenge rant.

sinclair lewis' prophecy has finally come true.

They will not control government forever, and when our turn comes, we are going to turn the power of government against the left. We are going to investigate them. We are going to hold public hearings. We are going to humiliate them. We're going to nationalize their unions. We're going to fund our groups for a change.

when fascism comes to america

They are using government to advance a cause that is un-American. ... We are going to use the power that left is centralizing in the federal government to punish them, to break 'em up, and to make them pay for this.

it will be wrapped in the flag

We will use the power of government and legal system to promote our movement and our agenda, just as they are.
We will build a massive army of patriots to counter ACORN.

and carrying a cross.

"Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do."
